A tribute to the beautiful Dorothy Daindridge
Hello my
urban beauties!
Its officially Black History Month 2013! This is a dedicated
month to celebrate the accomplishments black people have achieved throughout
history. Black History took place for the first time in the UK in October 1987
and throughout October there will be a range of cultural and educational events
to mark the celebration.
Dorothy
Dandridge broke down racial barriers and set the path for black
actresses. She became the first black female to be nominated for an
Academy Award in the Best Actress category for her role in Carmen Jones,
and the first black woman to grace the cover of Life magazine. However,
society was unable to fully appreciate Dorothy during her lifetime
simply because of the color of her skin. A legend in every sense of the
word, Dorothy Dandridge will forever remain the epitome of beauty and
grace. - See more at:

For me, its personally a great honor to remember black people
and communities who have achieved so
much throughout history. Each week I’ll shine the spot light on black people
from past and present who have achieved firsts throughout Black History.

All these pictures have been sourced from the website, For the Love of Dorothy. After reading up on Dorothy, this lady achieved so many "firsts" for black female actresses, she should never be forgotten for her amazing contribution to Black History.
