My favourite urban beauty of the week
Now, usually each week I'll find the 5 hottest looks that I've seen on the Internet Twitter or Instagram and share them with my urban beauties, but after hearing about the heart breaking news of Maya Angelou's death, it felt appropriate to feature the amazing woman herself, as my urban beauty of the week.
The poet and award-winning memoirist known for the acclaimed poetry collection I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings passed away on 28th May 2014 at her home in North Carolina. Born on April 4, 1928, there was nothing this lady couldn't do, and truly is beauty personified.
Her talent and wise words of wisdom impacted my life in many ways without her even realising it. Thanks to Maya's words, she taught me;
- The importance of having faith and never giving up on my dreams.
- Regardless of my fears or pain, continue to rise and feel confident within myself.
- Having self-belief is one of the most powerful things I possess as a young woman.
- I haven't got time for no haters, only interested in positivity.
- Appreciate every moment with my husband, son, family and friends.
- I'm human and its ok to make mistakes - so stop punishing myself.
- Dream BIG and dare to be different from what i've been conditioned to do.
Thank you Maya x
