The importance of strength in numbers
Following the rising number of unarmed black men been killed by Police officers in the USA, I was touched by these recent pictures of thousands of protesters in New York , protesting peacefully, chanting "I can't breathe!" ''Hands up, don't shoot!" and waved signs reading "Black lives matter!"
It was great to see people, as well as celebrities coming together from all walks of life, uniting to send a powerful and strong message to the American government.
Police brutality against unarmed black men has reached melting point and people now fear, the very same force who've been empowered by government to protect and govern the law.
What's also worrying is the bullies who operate within the Police Force who go around using violence to enforce laws only represent a small minority of the Police force, but unfortunately they give a bad name to all the other Police Officers who are doing a good job.
These protests reinforce the power of collaborative efforts. By thousands of people uniting to spread a common message, thousands of small voices become one big powerful voice the government cannot avoid.
Sometimes I feel like I am my own Island, but these protests remind me of the importance of working together and making a stand.
